Thousands of years ago, here was a connected plateau. Today you will only find the impressive remnants. They are located in the US state of Arizona. This area is not part of the national park system. It is administered by the Navajo Indians. Monument Valley unquestionably belongs to the most impressing natural hotspots of the North American continent - and to the most popular motives for postcards as well. In this valley, countless Western movies have been filmed. Particularly the sunrises and sunsets are worth being seen. The former plateau was cleared away by erosion. Only these monuments were able to withstand these forces until today. |
