Some call it the most beautiful place on the Spanish island Tenerife. The village has 5500 inhabitants. It was destroyed in 1706 by the eruption of the Montana Negra volcano. Only the old part of Garachico was saved by a miracle. The rest of the village was rebuilt on top of black lava. This panorama picture was taken from the Plaza where you can find the monument to the Venezuelan national hero Simón Bolívar, whose grandmother immigrated to the new world from here. |
