Panoramas of the World

El Teide II (Tenerife)

The lava fields with their strange formations are part of the highlights of a visit to Tenerife. Moonscape is a good way to describe the picture.

These lava fields are particularly found in the vicinity of El Teide, the highest mountain in Spain (3718 meters). In winter time it is often covered with snow. The volcano is located in the Parque Nacional del Teide. This national park is the largest of its kind on the Canary Islands, covering more than 135 square kilometers. It was established in 1954 and is located at a height of more than 2000 meters. A trip into the park is one of the highlights of a trip to Tenerife.
