Panoramas of the World

Placa Reial (Barcelona)

Originally this was the location of a monastery. Today, the Placa Reial is one of the most beautiful ensembles in Barcelona. It was established between 1848 and 1859. Its style reflects the influence of the era of Napoleon.

The square is surrounded by neo-classical buildings with their beautiful arcades. The well in the center of the square is decorated by three graces. By the way - the lanterns in this square were designed by Antoni Gaudí. The Placa Reial was completely renovated in the eighties.
