The Gyeongbokgung in Seoul (South Corea) was the most representative palace of the Joseon Dynasty. It was built in 1395, in the fourth year of the reign of king Taejo. In particular, the main hall shows the glory of the palace. This is where the king gave banquets for his subordinates. Gyeongbokgung means “palace of the shining luck”. The palace burned down during the Japanese invasion at the end of the 15th century. For more than 270 years there were only ruins to be seen here. The palace was then rebuilt in 1860. |
