Panoramas of the World

Durban (South Africa)

More than three million people live in this coastal town which is home of one of the most important ports in South Africa. The long beaches of Durban attract a lot of visitors from all over the country.

Although Durban is the third largest city in South Africa, it is not the capital of the province KwaZulu Natal. This title was given to Pietermaritzburg. Durban is home to the largest mosque in South Africa. The city lives on the money which tourists bring into the city. The recurring shark attacks are quite disturbing for the tourism industry, even though the city fights against those animals with nets at the beaches.
