Panoramas of the World

Blyde River (South Africa)

Not far from the Krüger National Park, the Blyde River winds itself through the northeast part of South Africa. The almost 30 kilometer long canyon ranks among the most impressive natural phenomena in the country.

The canyon is located in the Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve, which streches over 25,000 hectares. The cliffs of the canyon fall steeply down and end directly on the bank of the river. The river can be reached by a small trail in a few hours. Visitors have to register themselves at the starting point of the walk, and upon their return, log out as well.
