Royal Castle IV (Warsaw)

The Royal Castle with its Sigismund's Tower in the center today forms the eastern side of the castle. This place stood empty for many decades. A unique relief action made it possible to reconstruct the building from 1971 to 1984.

The former residence of the Polish kings is equipped with five wings. The castle was destroyed on “Black Sunday” (September 17, 1939) by artillery bombardment. After the Warsaw Uprising in 1944, it was blown up. The castle, in its early baroque style, became the symbol of the fight for the independence of Poland. The royal rooms, the knight’s hall, and the marble room are open for visitors today.
