Panoramas of the World

Market Square (Warsaw)

The Market Square is surroundedby historic patrician houses. In summer, this place is crowded, and the square becomes a café, beer garden, and concert hall all in one.

The houses were reconstructed, and only a few original fronts still exist. Each house is unique due to its arches, plastics, and reliefs, and frequently carries the name of the former owners. In the center of the square the City Hall was once located. Old water pumps remind of the old days when this was the location of a well-visited weekly market.
