Trevi Fountain (Rome)

The Trevi fountain is not even 250 years old, but it ranks among the buildings of Rome which are most frequently visited.

Pope Clemens XII selected the plan by Nicolò Salvi from several drafts in 1732. Nevertheless, it still took 30 years until it was completed. The well shows many statues, in the center stands Neptune. Many visitors throw a coin over their shoulder into the well. This way they hope to be able to guarantee their return to Rome.
