The landmark of Athens ranks among the most important buildings in Greece. In this panorama picture, the Acropolis is covered with snow. A rare sight. The influence of these temples on architecture was enormous. Most temples on the “holy rock” were consecrated to Athena, the protection goddess of the city. The buildings were completed in the second half of the 5th century B.C. Today, they serve the visitors of the city as suitable spots for retreat and meditation. According to the legend, Athena won the right to rule the city in a contest with Poseidon. |
