Actually, this Evangelical church is called St. Michaelis, however generally it is called “Michel”. It became the best-known church in Hamburg and a landmark of the city. The Michel is consecrated to the archangel Michael; its bronze statue may bee seen above the main entrance. The building was finished in 1762. On this panorama photo you can also see the Gruner + Jahr building. The church tower of the Michel is 132 meters high. An elevator leads to a platform where this panorama picture was taken.
