The Russian Tsar Peter I built this castle beginning in 1718 for his wife Katharina I, hence the name of the baroque palace. It is located about two kilometers away from the town centre of Tallinn. The park, with its symmetrical swan pond, is very extensive. The Katriorg Palace today is home tothe most important art collection in Estonia with works of foreign artists. |
