Once, Tallinn was surrounded by this powerful city wall, with its impressive fortified towers. Now the brickwork is spotted with dwellings and windows. In the 15th century, the city wall received its final shape. It had a length of 2.4 kilometers. 45 fortified towers and gate towers increased its military strength. It had a width of three meters, the height varied between 13 and 16 meters. The towers had four floors and were up to 22 meters high. Today, the length of the city wall has decreased to two kilometers and only 26 towers. |
