Panoramas of the World

Santiago de Chile

With its 4.7 million inhabitants, Santiago de Chile is a metropolis of great contrasts. Multi-story buildings with shining fronts reflect the dynamic economic development of Chile. Numerous so-called street children in very poor clothes show the other face of the country.

Visitors of Chile have to spend at least some days in this city. The Cerro Santa Lucía offers one of the best views of Santiago de Chile. This panorama shot was taken there. The mountain with its footpaths, gardens, and wells is particularly suitable for a short respite from the noisy traffic of the capital of Chile. The visit is most worthwhile on a Sunday, when the view is not clouded by smog.
