Puerto Natales (Chile)

The trip from Puerto Montt to Puerto Natales lasts several days by ship along the coast towards the South. That is why everyone feels the isolation of this place with only 18,000 inhabitants on the eastern bank of Last Hope Sounds. The harbour town lives off the wool, mutton, and fish industry.

Puerto Natales, 250 kilometers northwest from Punta Arenas, is the starting point for a visit to probably the most well-known national park in South America - Torres del Paine. The park is located 112 kilometers away from Puerto Natales and is a point of attraction for domestic and foreign tourists. The Serrano Glacier is best reached from Puerto Natales as well. Whoever wants to visit Puerto Montt by boat should start from the harbour of Puerto Natales.
