Wilcox Pass (Canada)

The trail to the Wilcox Pass is without a doubt on ofthe most beautiful daily walks in the Jasper National Park. The well-known Athabasca Glacier is often visible on this walk.

The trail starts a few hundred meters away from the Icefield Center. After a few minutes you will find yourself in an alpine landscape above the treeline. The pass is named after the American mountaineer Walter Wilcox, who already crossed it in 1896. For quite some time, the way over the pass was the preferred transportation route, since the way through the valley was nearly blocked by the Athabasca Glacier. You may see goats here.
