There is hardly a hiking trail in the Canadian Rocky Mountains which achieves larger heights than the one to the Wenkchemna Pass. From here, a spectacular view of the surrounding mountain summits is offered. The walk to the Wenkchemna Pass starts on the banks of Moraine Lake and leads to the “Valley of the Ten Peaks” with its breathtaking panorama, and then passes Eiffel Lake. The Canadian authorities informed visitors recently that only groups of at least six people are allowed to enter this trail. This should avoid contact with bears, which has happened in the past quite frequently. The ascent from the valley to the 2600 meter high Wenkchemna Pass is extremely demanding. |
