The walk to the Cory Pass is the probably most spectacular trip in the close vicinity of Banff. Although the pass can be reached in just a few hours, these kinds of views are normally reserved for mountain climbers. The pass in the Canadian Rocky Mountains is surrounded by the steep cliffs of Mount Edith (2555 meters) and Mount Cory (2800 meters). The solid summit of Mount Louis, which faces the pass, is very impressive. This mountain was climbed for the first time in 1916 by Conrad Kain and A.H. MacCarthy. While the Cory Pass is a must for hikers in the region, only few mountain climbers accept the the challenge presented byMount Louis. |
