The Ayers Rock is one of the best known rock formations on Earth. Natives call the second largest monolith in the world "Uluru". It is a must-see of every traveller to Australia. The monolith has a length of 3.6 kilometers and is 348 meters high. It is about 600 million years old. The rock also changes its color with the time of day. Shortly before the sun goes down, it begins to shine in red. Despite its only small height, climbing the Ayers Rock is extremely difficult, because it is very steep. If temperatures of over 38 degrees are predicted, climbing the rook is prohibited. |
